Creative Class Collective: Our Story
Since the early 2000s, Intertrend has hosted groundbreaking programming under the Imprint Culture Lab banner, exploring emerging ideas and fostering dynamic collaborations. When the agency began developing the historic Psychic Temple building in downtown Long Beach in 2012 to become its future headquarters, these efforts deepened, sparking meaningful connections with the local community. A pivotal moment came in 2013, when Imprint hosted the all-day event “Long Beach: Work-in-Progress,” further cementing its role as a catalyst for creative exchange in the city. And in 2015, founder Julia Huang brought the idea to bring the mural festival Pow! Wow! to Long Beach through Imprint Lab. What emerged was a simple yet powerful belief: connection is the engine of creation.
Founded and supported by Intertrend, Creative Class Collective evolved into an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2019 that bridges communities through art and culture. Through initiatives like Art Renzei, Long Beach Walls, Make Noise Today, and Unexpected Connections, the organization has transformed public spaces, connected artists across generations, and created platforms for inventive collaboration that extends far beyond traditional artistic boundaries.
Today, Creative Class Collective continues to expand its mission of making creativity accessible while building a sustainable creative economy in Long Beach. With support from partners including the LA County Department of Arts and Culture and the California Arts Council, the organization serves as both incubator and amplifier for the city’s creative community—proving that when diverse voices come together in shared creative spaces, the impact resonates throughout entire neighborhoods and to the world.
